An Invitation for More Mindfulness

“Be open to whatever comes next.” – Karen Salmansohn

I’ve experienced a few changes on my plate over the past couple of weeks. Coeliac (gluten free) is in the family but I and the doctor wasn’t convinced that I’d be adding my name to that list just yet. The doctor confirmed the blood test results that I’d received with an endoscopy (plus added a lactose intolerance), and the rest is history. Looks like I’ll be looking out for those Gluten and Dairy Free labels from now on.

“Take responsibility for the energy you bring.” – Jill Bolte Taylor

My family and friends have come up with some awesome recipes and suggestions for me to try. I’ve also been asked by many how’s it all going? The response that keeps coming up for me is that these past few weeks have been an invitation for more mindfulness. I haven’t interpreted the news or changes I’ve been making as positive or negative, simply chances to bring more attention around dietary choices. I’m sure there’ll be things that I’ll miss from time to time, but right now, and hopefully as time goes on, it’ll continue to be an invitation to practice, “paying attention in a particular way; on purpose, in the present moment, and non judgmentally” (Jon Kabat Zinn’s definition).

“Replace fear of the unknown with curiosity.” – Penelope Ward

We are presented with many invitations for more mindfulness each and every day, but are we open to and willing to explore the possibilities, discover potential and act authentically within them?
