Happy New Year to you and yours as we tick over into 2026. We hope that you are starting the new year with support, hope and agency as you again choose to make a difference with others in your families and communities. For us the 'with others' is the really important part of the learning and leadership journey. This is how we help create and build ongoing impact, bringing what 'we' value and want to see more of to life each day within our spheres of influence.

"No one can whistle a symphony. It takes a whole orchestra to play it." - H.E. Luccock

One of our focus areas again this year is noticing. This skill helps us to intentionally respond, lead and inspire as we navigate our own and others' humanness. So on my walk this morning it was a sign's subheading that I've walked past many times that sparked my curiosity, not just the bold larger writing that sits above it that I've noticed before.

"If we wish to rebuild our cities, we must first rebuild our neighbourhoods." - Harvey Milk

The sign was pointing out that this particular street had previously won a Sustainability recognition by the local council. What it said underneath though got me thinking. The subheading said, 'It's a neighbourhood out there'. My mind bounced between the common saying of, 'It's a jungle out there' and this powerful reframe I'd now noticed. Neighbourhood, with others, Jungle, watch out for others.

"Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much." - Helen Keller

What are you noticing around you? Is it reinforcing or challenging our negaitivity bias that we all have. And how are you using noticing, values and awareness to guide what happens next. For me, it'll be how can I share more of what I'm noticing, as well as continuing to listen and learn from those I interdependently walk beside this year. Have fun co-creating, I know we do!

"Synergy is better than my way or your way. It's our way." - Stephen Covey
